South West
The vineyards of South-West France are a magnificent wine-growing region, with varied microclimates to discover and complex soils resulting from Pyrenean degradation. It is a wonderful home to a unique range of indigenous grape varieties, some of which are little known outside the region. Native grape varieties such as Malbec and Tannat dominate, producing full-bodied, tannic red wines. Cahors and Madiran wines are renowned for their robust character. Jurançon whites, sweet and dry, offer delicious complexity, while Fronton wines are light and fruity. The wine-producing South-West offers authentic gourmet pairings with local cuisine rich in flavors such as duck confit or cassoulet.
